UNCSA Harp Day

The North Carolina Harp Ensemble led by Jacquelyn Bartlett (UNCSA Artist Faculty) and Grace Ludtke (Guilford College Music Faculty/UNCSA Alum) and the UNCSA Harp Studio are hosting UNCSA Harp Day on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

UNCSA Harp Day will be held on the beautiful campus of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC. Harp Day is an exceptional celebration of the harp, and a day filled with learning, inspiration, and stunning music! All participants will perform on the day’s closing concert as performers in the harp ensemble! Additionally, there will be a technique seminar and masterclass led by Jacquelyn Bartlett.

  • Harp Day is geared to harpists of all ages and skill levels.

  • All attendees must bring their own harp and bench. Music stands will be provided.

  • All participants will be assigned music to play in harp ensemble based on their skill level and experience. Selected music will be emailed to participants upon registration and must be learned, polished, and ready to perform at the event.

  • Participants are also invited to perform a harp solo (must be memorized) polished and ready to perform on the day’s closing concert.

  • All harpists will perform on the day’s closing concert at 5 p.m. in Crawford Hall. This concert will be open to the public. Dessert reception to follow!

Registration

The registration fee for this event is $75.

Registration deadline is February 1st.

Registration includes:

  1. Participation in Harp Day events (Full Day or Half Day Options). **Student harpists under the age of 10 might consider half day or those unable to participate in the full day of events.

  2. Lunch in UNCSA Dining Hall (Full Day)

  3. Full Day participants are invited to apply to perform in masterclass with Jacquelyn Bartlett (UNCSA Artist Faculty) and receive enriching feedback on a polished harp solo. Memorization is strongly encouraged.

  4. All music for harp ensemble to perform on day’s closing concert. Harpists will be assigned parts based on their skill level and experience. Register well in advance of the event to learn your music!

  5. Participants are also invited to apply to perform a harp solo (must be memorized) on the day’s closing concert.

  6. For students interested in auditioning for the high school/college programs at UNCSA, Jacquelyn Bartlett will be available to meet for a free 30-minute private lesson during Harp Day. Please email bartlettj@uncsa.edu to schedule a lesson.

10 - 11:15 a.m. Masterclass with Jacquelyn Bartlett / Hood Recital Hall

11:15 - 11:30 a.m. Break

11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. “Importance of Your Technique/Musical Foundation” Seminar with Jacquelyn Bartlett (UNCSA Artist Faculty) / Hood Recital Hall

12:15 - 1:15 p.m. Lunch / Dining Hall

**1 -1:30 p.m. Check in (Half Day) / Crawford Hall Lobby

1:15 - 1:45 p.m. Campus Tour led by the UNCSA Harp Studio

1:45 - 3:15 p.m. Harp Ensemble - all registrants / Crawford Hall

3:15 - 3:30 p.m. Break

3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Dress Rehearsal - all registrants / Crawford Hall

4:30 - 5 p.m. Break & Prepare for Concert

5 p.m. Concert / Crawford Hall
